Make Your Listings Festive for the Season
By Jillian Dinnie, Design & Merchandising
Although not every homebuyer celebrates the same holidays, making your listing festive for the season can create an inviting space they will want to entertain in.
The front porch is often overlooked in staging and is an excellent opportunity to welcome your homebuyers. Add a string of lights around topiaries and a seasonal doormat with a winter theme. A large wreath on the front door made of fresh cedar branches will be a warm welcome.
The dining room is a wonderful place for festive décor. A cozy rug like a soft shag or a thick wool rug will add warmth to your dining space. Layering décor on the dining table like eucalyptus, noble fir branches, glass votives, a candelabra, and table runner in a soft textile will make the room ready for entertaining. Throwing a sheepskin or wool blanket over an end chair will add that extra seasonal touch.
Living rooms are a great gathering space for more casual conversation and entertaining. Add a tray with cocktail glasses, napkins and more greenery on your coffee table. Layer in chunky throws, extra lighting, and vases filled with cedar, pine, and eucalyptus branches. Choose more rustic décor like gingham or plaid throw pillows and warm wooden objects.
Bedrooms are a fantastic place for festive styling as they are the main rooms homebuyers will want to see. Add a faux fur throw to the end of your layered bed and a bench with extra décor pillows. Create a cozy reading nook with an overstuffed chair, knit throw, a side table with a candle, books, and holiday greenery.
